Police ID Man Crushed By Car While Lying On South Austin Roadway

David Adam Castro, 28, was killed along the 5000 block of East Stassney Lane after a Nissan Pathfinder ran over him along the roadway.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday identified the man who was killed last week after being run over by a vehicle as he was lying in the roadway along the curb line in South Austin.

David Adam Castro, 28, was killed along the 5000 block of East Stassney Lane on Oct. 16 after being crushed by a Nissan Pathfinder traveling eastbound in the inside lane. Castro reportedly was lying on the roadway when the incident occurred. The incident occurred just before 6 a.m., police said.

Police said the driver remained at the scene until police arrived.

The case is still under investigation, and police urge anyone with information to call them at (512) 974-4424. Those with information also can submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.

Police noted the incident marked Austin’s 53rd fatal traffic crash and the 55th fatality of 2017. At this time in 2016, there were 56 fatal traffic crashes and 57 traffic fatalities, police said.
