Police ID Man Who Died After Car Rolled Over Before Hitting Tree In South Austin
Emmanuel Castro Ramirez, 34, was driving along 400 block of William Cannon Drive when he veered onto median, setting off deadly trajectory.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police identified the victim of a fatal rollover wreck that occurred last month in South Austin.
According to a preliminary police investigation, a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound along the 400 block on the westbound lane of William Cannon Drive at about 9:20 p.m. on May 30 when the vehicle veered onto the center median before striking a sign and metal lamppost. The car continued to propel on a southeasterly path before rolling over and flipping numerous times before hitting a tree.
The driver of the car, identified as Emmanuel Castro Ramirez, 34, was not restrained by a seat belt at the time, and was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He was rushed to St. David's South Austin Hospital by Austin-Travis County EMS medics, but died of his injuries the following afternoon.

Police continue to investigate the incident. It's unclear from their narrative as to what may have caused the crash that killed Ramirez.
Police noted the incident marked the 27th fatal traffic crash in Austin so far this year. At this time last year, there were 28 fatal traffic crashes with an equal amount of resulting fatalities.
