Police ID Man Who Died After Driving Into Metal Pole Near Buda

Joshua Chesed Alexander, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene along South I-35 after leaving roadway for unknown reasons.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Friday identified a man who was killed in a single-car collision last weekend.

Joshua Chesed Alexander, 25, was killed after leaving the roadway for unknown reasons before striking a metal pole. Alexander was traveling along the 13100 block of South Interstate 35 near Buda when he slammed into the pole a block away while traveling southbound just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 6.

An investigation into the cause of the accident continues. Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at (512) 974-5789.

The incident marked the sixth fatal traffic crash in Austin so far this year. During the comparable period last year, there had been four traffic fatalities.
