Police ID Victims Of South Austin Double Shooting, Continue Searching For Suspect

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the victims of a shooting, one of them fatally wounded, that occurred last month in South Austin while asking for help from the public in finding a suspect.

Police reported to 1881 Grove Blvd. on April 6 just after 4:30 a.m. There, they found Mariano Gonzalez-Lopez, 20, in a pickup truck dead from his injuries and Juan Gonzalez-Lopez, 20, wounded on the driveway of the apartment complex suffering from obvious physical trauma.

Up to a $1000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of this homicide suspect. You may remain anonymous. Police noted that, with the incident on Grove Boulevard, there have been 11 homicides in Austin so far this year:

• Feb. 20, 2017 – 8010 N IH 35 Southbound
• March 10, 2017 – 1600 block E. 7th Street
• March 12, 2017 – 916 Bird Creek Dr.
• March 15, 2017 – 6407 Springdale Rd.
• March 27, 2017 – 300 Carmen Court
• April 6, 2017 – 1881 Grove
• May 3, 2017 – 7609 West Gate Blvd.
• May 19, 2017 – 611 S. Congress Ave.
