Police Investigate After South Austin Bank Branch Is Held Up By Unknown Suspect

Suspect enters Bank of America branch at 701 E. Stassney Lane, hands teller a note demanding cash and walks out with undetermined amount.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police are asking for assistance from the public in finding a suspect connected to a late Saturday morning bank robbery.

Austin Police Department officials said a suspect walked into the Bank of America branch at 701 E. Stassney Lane at around 11:30 a.m., passed a note to the teller demanding money and fled with undetermined amount of cash. Police said no weapon was displayed at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 20s standing at about six feet tall with facial hair. He was last seen wearing a white thermal shirt and blue jeans.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact police by calling the APD's robbery tip line at (512) 974-5092, Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS or by texting "Tip 103" + a message to CRIMES. Those with information that leads to an arrest or charges being filed are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000, police noted. People also can submit tips by downloading APD's mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.

Saturday's bank robbery was the 15th one in Austin so far this year.
