Police Identify South Austin Murder Victim
Police found a man dead when responding to a check welfare call.

Police have identified the victim in a South Austin murder and are asking for the public’s help in the investigation.
Officers responding to a check welfare call Wednesday night on the 6300 Block of Shadow Bend found a man, now identified as Chris Albert Whitmarsh, 74, dead in his home with obvious signs of trauma to his body, according to a news release.
Whitmarsh was pronounced dead at the scene. The police have not yet named any suspects in the investigation.

This case has been labeled a murder, and investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident or anyone that saw suspicious activity in the area to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
