SOUTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police activity around the St. Edward's University campus raised alarms among students and others on Monday evening, but police said no threat to the campus was posed.

Just before 6 p.m., campus police said Austin Police Department officers placed a suspect in custody north of campus near Oltorf Street. "No current impact to campus, but avoid the area north of campus," campus police tweeted.

The charges against the suspect were not specified. Students took to social media in the midst of the activity to report the bolstered police presence, including a pair of helicopters whirring above to aid in search. University students and staff were advised to avoid the scene.
