Police ID Teen Who Died After Car Slammed Into Tree In South Austin [UPDATED]
Nicholas Joseph Young, 19, failed to negotiate a right turn, causing car to careen off roadway before slamming into a tree, police said.

UPDATE: Police on Tuesday identified the victim of a fatal accident on March 18 who died after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into a tree. Nicholas Joseph Young, 19, was pronounced dead after arriving at St. David's South Austin Hospital. He would have turned 20 on Sept. 6.

On March 18 along the 4200 block of Southwest Parkway, a Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound in the 4200 block of Southwest Parkway just after 8 a.m. The driver, identified only as a 19-year-old white male, failed to negotiate a right hand curve, drifted off the left side of the roadway into a grass median and struck a tree.
The driver was rushed to St. David's South Austin Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police continue to investigate the incident, and urge anyone with information to call them at (512) 974-8255. Those with information also can submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.
The collision marked the city's 13th fatal traffic crash so far this year, the same number as of this point in time last year.
