Police Search For Suspect In South Austin Shooting Along Congress Avenue
Shooting took place just after 7 a.m. outside an office building at 611 S. Congress Ave., near the intersection with East Riverside.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police continue to search for a suspect in a Friday morning shooting that left a man critically injured, officials said.
The shooting took place just after 7 a.m. on Friday outside an office building at 611 S. Congress Ave., near the intersection with East Riverside Drive, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The victim of the shooting is a man in his 50s who was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge where he is reportedly undergoing surgery for his wounds.
Police told the newspaper there is no continuing threat to the public, and were poised to present more information in a news conference Friday afternoon. Patch will update once more information is made available.

The shooting occurred mere blocks from a luxury-apartments-lined retail corridor popular with visitors featuring an array of trendy shops along the SoCo shopping district to the south and the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge featuring the famous bat colony to the north, the paper noted.
