Police Seek Driver Who May Have Caused Wreck UPDATE
Rush-hour traffic accident on Highway 71 resulted in fatality.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Austin police are searching for the driver who may have caused the rush-hour traffic accident Thursday that left another motorist dead.
An Austin Police Department spokeswoman said police have evidence a driver that may have caused the wreck east of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport may have fled the scene. The accident occurred at about 7:16 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene of the crash in the 3000 block of Highway 71, police found a motionless person on the road, who was declared dead at the scene. Police have not released the identity or gender of the victim while their investigation continues.

A police spokesperson said members of the vehicular homicide unit were on scene, later determining another vehicle was involved in the crash but fled the scene.
The wreck prompted the temporary closure of an eastbound lane of traffic.
