Police Seek Help From Public In Locating South Austin Robbery Suspect

The man is said to have produced a weapon while demanding cash after pretending to be inquiring about hotel room rates.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police on Monday asked for the public's help in identifying a suspect in an aggravated robbery over the weekend.

Detectives released surveillance camera still images in the hopes someone might recognize the suspect and call with them with information leading to his arrest.

At about 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 1, the suspect entered the Park West Inn Hotel in South Austin to inquire about room rates. It was a ruse: The suspect is said to have produced a weapon while demanding money from the hotel clerk before fleeing with and undisclosed amount of ill-gotten cash.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male believed to be in his 20s, standing between 5' 6" and 5' 9" in height. He has a medium build and a short or medium fade-cut hairstyle.
