Police Seek Help Solving South Austin Sexual Assault Case
Woman approached from behind while walking along Woodward Street was forced into wooded area before being sexually assaulted.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police seek help from the public in solving a sexual assault case that occurred this week in South Austin.
The investigation stems from an incident that occurred this past Monday, March 12, at around 1 p.m. It was then that a woman was approached from behind as she walked along Woodward Street near the Interstate 35 frontage road and forced into a wooded area before being sexually assaulted.
The case has heightened anxiety among nearby residents, including students at St. Edward's University just a stone's throw away from the crime scene. The fact the crime happened in broad daylight only serves to increase anxieties further.

The suspect is described as:
- White male.
- Approximately six feet tall.
- Bald.
- Blonde mustache and blonde beard from ear to ear.
- Lots of body hair.

- Burnt orange shirt.
- Dark grey workout pants.
- Dark colored shoes.
The Austin Police Department Sex Crimes Unit is currently following up on all leads as part of the ongoing investigation, police said in a press release. "It is important to remember that sexual assault cases are sensitive in nature and that they take time to investigate," police said. "APD will share more information as soon as it is available."
