Residents Displaced After Fire Breaks Out At South Austin Apartment Building
Nine people are without homes after early-morning fire on Sunday that resulted in more than $1 million in property damage.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- Nine residents were displaced early Sunday morning after a fire broke out in a South Austin apartment building, fire officials said.
The fire resulted in no injuries, but caused more than $1 million in property damage, fire officials told the Austin American-Statesman. Another $250,000 in losses were estimated having been sustained from the contents inside the structure, officials added.
The conflagration was reported just past midnight on Sunday at The Woods on Barton Skyway Apartments at 2901 Barton Skyway, according to fire officials. Firefighters fought the blaze into the early morning hours Sunday, the newspaper reported.

Barton Skyway between MoPac Boulevard and Spyglass Drive was closed for several hours during the fire, but were re-opened some hours later. Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire that caused damage to eight units at the complex.
Displaced residents are being helped by the Red Cross and management staff at the apartment building, officials told the newspaper.
