Shabbat Services in South Austin with Selah

Looking to end your week with community. music, and intention? Join Selah for a beautiful Shabbat service. All are welcome.

We’re very excited to invite you to our November Kabbalat Shabbat service at a beautiful new location with a new, more flexible schedule. On 11/20, we will meet at Fannie Davis Gazebo on Ladybird Lake next to Auditorium Shores (If your GPS doesn’t recognize “Fannie Davis Gazebo,” you may also use 920 W. Riverside Drive as an address).

We will also have a new schedule that we hope will accommodate more people. From 6:15-6:45, there will be a fun-sized family service with Rabbi Gail Swedroe and David Ansel... songs, reflection, and movement. From 6:45-7:00, we will make kiddush and enjoy some homemade challah... families who want to head home may then feel free to do so. Then, from 7:00 to 8:00, we will have our musical Shabbat service with the Selah Ensemble.

In our service, we will rediscover the story of Vayetzei and its theme of angels or messengers. We’ll consider Jacob’s ladder dream, some commentary from Rashi, and a little Hebrew etymology as we reflect on our own individual purposes in the world.

Come join us in a cool and beautiful setting for this special event! We look forward to welcoming Shabbat outside under the shelter of the gazebo, regardless of the weather. If it’s a bit chilly, feel free to bring blankets and dress warmly!

Questions? Please email info@selah-austin.org or call 512-735-8420. Selah is made possible by the work of an all-volunteer board and the support of Congregation Agudas Achim.
