Single? Austin May Not Be Best Place For Love, Report Says

Austin ranked 26th among more than 180 cities surveyed, but did fare better than all other Texas cities among best places for singles.

AUSTIN, TX — Singe and looking for love in Austin? You might be better off in Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco or any of 23 other cities ranked as the best cities for the unattached.

With more than 45 percent of all U.S. adults being single during the holidays — the most family-oriented time of the year— the personal-finance website WalletHub on Monday released its report Best & Worst Cities for Singles. Analysts at the personal finance website compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 32 key indicators of dating-friendliness with a data set including number of online dating opportunities and nightlife options per capita.

Given those metrics, Austin was ranked at the 26th-best city for singles. But take heart: Austin fared better than all other Texas cities, including 33rd-ranked Houston and 43rd-ranked San Antonio. And take comfort from your ennui-suffused solitude in knowing you're not living in Laredo and Brownsville, both cellar dwellers on the list in the 174th and 181st rankings, respectively.
