Six Homes Evacuated In Southeast Austin After Gas Leak Detected

Texas Gas Service crews were expected to be working through the night in trying to seal the leak, officials said.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Six homes were evacuated in the city's southeast side Monday evening after a gas leak.

Texas Gas Service officials told media outlets the the leak occurred at about 5 p.m. along Burleson Road at Terrilance Drive, north of Ben White Boulevard. There was a likelihood other homes could be evacuated, utility officials said.

Burleson Road was blocked off to traffic Monday night as crews worked on sealing the leak, according to officials at the gas company. The crews were working through the night to ensure the leak was ultimately sealed.
