South Austin Goodwill Store Evacuated After Grenade Found

Police were dispatched to 2800 block of South Lamar Boulevard where they found an inert grenade that posed no danger.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police evacuated a Goodwill store in South Austin early Thursday afternoon after an inert hand grenade was found inside the facility.

Police were called to the store along the 2800 block of South Lamar Boulevard at around 12:12 p.m. amid reports of a hazardous object, a department spokesperson told the Austin American-Statesman. When police arrived, they found a not-live grenade that posed no danger.

Still, the store was evacuated as a precaution before customers and staff were let back inside.
