SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A South Austin man held his girlfriend's cat underwater in the bathtub — something he admitted doing several times before — drowning the animal, police said.
According to an arrest affidavit referenced by the Austin American-Statesman, police received a call just after 7 a.m. on Saturday to check on the well-being of Jonathan Wong, 28, whose girlfriend reported was suicidal. The incident occurred along the 9300 block of South 1st Street, according to the report.
Wong told police he placed the young cat in a plastic container before submerging it in water, according to the report. The cat began struggling before drowning, prompting Wong to remove it from the water, according to an arrest affidavit.
