South Austin Shooting Leads To Man's Hospitalization

A man is his 20s was rushed to the hospital after gunfire erupted at Encinal Cove in southeast Austin on Tuesday afternoon.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting that occurred in the southeast side of Austin Tuesday afternoon.

Police received an emergency call to Encinal Cove near Stassney Lane at around 2:45 p.m. reporting multiple gunshots. Medics making the scene later described the victim as a man in his 20s who they rushed to South Austin Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound, the news station reported.

At a subsequent press conference, police said between four to six people may have been involved in the disturbance that led to the shooting, KVUE reported. A police helicopter was dispatched to the scene in trying to locate a suspect from the air, but an arrest has yet to be made and no suspect has been identified.

Police did note that the incident appears to have been an isolated one, and there is no immediate threat to the public as a result of the shooting. Such a pronouncement from police usually emerges when it's determined that people involved in such incidents know one another, and were involved in a dispute.
