South Austin Taco Cabana Damaged in Fire
The fire caused an estimated $150,000 worth of damage.

An electric malfunction caused a South Austin restuarant to catch fire early Wednesday morning.
Austin Fire officials say that a fire at the Taco Cabana at South MoPac Boulevard and William Cannon Drive was caused by a malfunction in the restaurant’s warming equipment, reported the Austin American-Statesman.
Firefighters were first alerted of the blaze at 3:23 a.m. and put the fire out by 3:47. Nobody was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported, Palmer Buck, a fire department spokesman, told the newspaper.

Employees started to show up around 4 a.m. for the first shift of the day as firefighters were still on the scene. The fire caused an estimated $150,000 damage and the Taco Cabana is expected to be closed at least one day.
