St. Edward's Recognized For Having The Most Fulbright Scholars
In the past academic year, 26 students were finalists for the competitive and coveted honor, and ten won.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- St. Edward’s University has been recognized as the top producer of Fulbright students among the nation’s master’s institutions, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program. The recognition places the university in the highest rank among master’s-granting institutions, above such other institutions as Drake University, Santa Clara University and Elon University.
In the past academic year, 26 students from St. Edward’s applied for Fulbright awards. Half of those students, university officials announced. Of the finalists, ten of them secured the coveted honor.

The Fulbright winners are:

- Danielle Rivera ’14, English Teaching Assistantship, Laos
- Rebekah Morton ’15, English Teaching Assistantship, South Korea
- Samantha Mendoza ’15, English Teaching Assistantship, India
- Caitlin Maples ’15, English Teaching Assistantship, Germany
- Cali Chidester ’15, English Teaching Assistantship, Malaysia
- Jenna Jaco ’15, English Teaching Assistantship, South Korea
- Katie Protano ’15, English Teaching Assistantship, Germany

Since its inception in 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 360,000 participants—chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns, university officials said in a statement.
Over 1,900 U.S. students, artists and young professionals in more than 100 different fields of study are offered Fulbright Program grants to study, teach English, and conduct research annually, the statement continued.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program operates in more than 140 countries throughout the world.
