St. Edward's University Officials Safeguard South Austin Campus After Reports Of Armed Intruder

The suspect is believed to have been involved in a nearby robbery, prompting university police to thoroughly search campus buildings.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- A scare occurred at St. Edward's University late Tuesday, when an armed suspect from a nearby robbery was reported to have been walking across campus.

After a thorough search for the suspect, university officials gave the all-clear that the suspect was no longer on campus. University security personnel said they conducted a thorough search, including at three buildings closest to the site of the armed robbery that had occurred.

The area specifically searched is on the northwest side of the campus near an apartment complex. There was no word from police as to whether the suspect ultimately was captured. Still, university officials said the campus was no longer under threat.
