Austin Standoff Ends With Suspect In Custody (Updated)
SWAT team members dispatched to 2300 block of Westoak Drive late Thursday amid reports of 'armed, suicidal' man.

AUSTIN, TEXAS β A standoff with a man described by police as "armed and suicidal" ended peacefully Thursday night after he surrendered to police.
Earlier, police issued a "shelter-in-place" advisory just before 10 p.m. to residents near the scene of a SWAT standoff along the 2300 block of Westoak Drive as they attempted to coax the man out of a home in which he had barricaded himself.
By 10:30 p.m., police said the situation had ended peacefully after the man was taken into custody and transported for medical evaluation.
