The lightning caused some minor damage, but firefighters said none of the homes caught fire and no injuries resulted.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin firefighters were kept busy on Saturday when five houses were struck by lightning during a brief but powerful storm, although none of the homes caught fire.

Firefighters told the Austin American-Statesman the lightning strikes primarily caused damage to electrical outlets but the lightning failed to ignite. Such incidents occurred throughout the city on Big Thicket Drive in South Austin, another incident at Indigo Waters Drive on Lake Travis and three others in other parts of the city.

No injuries were reported, and no residents were displaced as a result of the lightning strikes, according to firefighters.
