Teen Dies In Vehicle Fire After Rollover Crash

Three others escape from burning car unharmed.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- A male teenager died in a vehicle fire near Southpark Meadows Tuesday evening, according to Austin-Travis County EMS officials.

EMS crews were called to the 9800 block of Alice Mae Lane shortly after 6 p.m. after reports of a one-car rollover crash, EMS officials conveyed by Twitter.

Once there, first responders unsuccessfully attempted to rescue a front-seat passenger who was unable to exit the burning vehicle. The passenger, an unidentified teenager, died of his injuries.

An adult and two juveniles who were also traveling in the car were able to get out of the disabled vehicle and were not injured, EMS officials said.

The identify of the deceased teen was not disclosed pending notification to his family.
