Train Hits Car Stalled On South Austin Railroad Tracks

Motorist Brandon Grant, 29, got out safe but later was charged with driving while intoxicated.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX -- A train struck a stalled car just past midnight Wednesday morning on tracks in South Austin, and the driver of the vehicle has been charged with DWI, according to media reports.

Brandon Grant, 29, was able to exit his stalled vehicle but unable to move it from the tracks, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

After the motorist left the car, a train struck it. The force of impact on the tracks at Banister Lane and Ben White Boulevard pushed the car several yards north.

KEYE-TV reports the collision occurred at 12:10 a.m. on Feb. 10.

Union Pacific representatives have been dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident further.
