Unattended Cooking Leads To South Austin Fire
Fire at 503 Blackberry Dr. on Sunday leaves resident displaced after fire causes significant structural damage.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A stove gas leak sparked a fire in South Austin on Sunday, displacing its residents after the home sustained extensive structural damage.
Firefighters responded to 503 Blackberry Drive on Sunday about 20 minutes before the noon hour on Sunday, according to fire officials. The resident exited the home after being alerted to the fire via a smoke alarm and escaped unharmed, officials said.
The blaze is believed to have been caused after food was left unattended. Structural damage was placed at $20,000 and another $10,000 to the building's contents.
