Unknown Driver Hits, Kills Pedestrian In South Austin Without Stopping To Render Aid: Police

A 38-year-old female victim was struck during early morning hours along the 10000 block of Interstate 35 northbound.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday released details centered on a fatal car crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian last week in South Austin.

The collision occurred along the 10000 block of Interstate 35 northbound on Nov. 23 during the early morning hours at just past 3:30 a.m. A 38-year-old Hispanic woman was struck by a vehicle driven by a motorist who fled the scene without attempting to render aid.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She is not being immediately identified pending notification of her death to family members.

The incident marked the 66th fatal traffic crash in Austin, and the 68th fatality of 2016. At this time in 2015, there were 91 traffic fatalities locally.
