Utility Worker Finds Body In Southeast Travis County

It's believed the body found shortly after 7 a.m. is the victim of a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the site five hours earlier.

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX -- A body was found off Highway 183 in the southeast portion of Travis County on Monday morning, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

KXAN-TV reports the body was found by a utility worker off Highway 183 near Margo Drive shortly after 7 a.m.

“Utility workers were here working on the pole when they climbed up on the pole they looked down and they noticed the body in the grass,” Robbie Barrera from the Department of Public Service told the news station. “Once they noticed the body they contacted 911, Travis County responded and contacted DPS.”

Investigators suspect the death is related to a two-vehicle crash that occurred some five hours earlier at around 2 a.m. In the crash, a motorist in a Chrysler 300 reportedly left the scene of the earlier crash. But now, detectives believe the body is that of one of the drivers.

The roadway was closed off to traffic while the scene was investigated. The victim's identity has not been identified as of early Monday afternoon.
