Woman Bites Off Boyfriend's Ear During South Austin Roughhousing

Portia Washington, 20, is charged with aggravated assault after man is found dripping with blood while holding left ear in his hand.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX — A woman has been charged with assault after biting off her boyfriend's ear off during some roughhousing, according to court documents filed this week.

Police responded to a Super 8 motel along the 3100 block of Montopolis Drive at around 3:35 a.m. on Tuesday, the Austin American-Statesman reported. Dispatchers alerted police to the incident, saying a man was shouting "Where is my ear?!?! What did you do?!?!" according to the report.

An officer arriving at the scene found the male victim shirtless with blood dripping down his neck and chest while "...holding his whole left ear in his hand as he was walking towards me," the officer said, according to an affidavit referenced in the news report.

The woman, later identified as Portia Washington, 20, allegedly admitted to the dismemberment. The man told police the two were "fooling around" and play fighting when "one thing led to another" and his ear was bitten off, according to the affidavit.

The man was transported to the hospital, where his ear was sewn back on. Washington was charged with aggravated assault, but records indicate she was not at the Travis County Jail as of Thursday.
