Woman Dead after Crashing into Tree in South Austin

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX - A fatal crash occurred in South Austin Wednesday morning when a woman crashed into a tree at Barton Springs Road and Kinney Avenue.

The woman was the only person in the truck and there were no other vehicles involved in the accident, which happened at about 2:20 a.m., according to KVUE. Police do not believe there were any witnesses to the crash.

It is unclear at this time if alcohol or weather had anything to do with the fatal crash.

Another fatal vehicle accident occurred in North Austin only hours later at about 6 a.m, according to KVUE. The rollover crash on the northbound service road of Interstate 35 caused a shutdown between Braker Lane and VFW Road, but the lanes have since been reopened.
