County Breaks Ground On Constable's Substation In NW Houston

SPRING, TX — The Harris County Precinct 4 Constables Office will be buidlng a new substation near Interstate 45 in Sring.

Constable Mark Herman was joined by deputies and local leaders from Harris County Water Control & Improvement District # 110 as they broke ground on what will be the 8th substation for Precinct 4 constable's in northwest Harris County.

While growth always draws a stronger law enforcement presense into areas of Greater Houston, so does the crime rate.

Since about 2010, the area of Interstate 45 between Airline Drive and Spring Creek has seen a stready increase in illegal activities, such as prostitution, thefts, aggravated assaults, and narcotics.

Earlier this year, Precinct 4 opened a new substation at State Highway 249 and the Sam Houston Tollway, to service areas of Willowbrook and Spring.

"The area of this building will allow for a strategic police presence from not only a logistical standpoint, but also a response to crime in the area," Herman said. "This will place our patrols where they belong, in the communities we serve."

Residents in the Spring area expressed their relief in various social media posts that a new substation would be build in the heart of all the criminal activitiy.

Meanwhile, the building is being funded by the Harris County Water Control & Improvement District # 110 and is projected to be completed in 3 months, and will house between 60-80 deputies.
