Klein High School Junior Earns Top ACT Score

From Klein Independent School District: Klein High School junior Francis King earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.

Only around two-tenths of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score. To put that in perspective, according to ACT, in the U.S. high school graduating class of 2018, only 3,741 out of more than 1.9 million graduates who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.

In a letter to our equipped scholar, ACT CEO Marten Roorda stated, “Your achievement on the ACT is significant and rare. Your exceptional scores will provide any college or university with ample evidence of your readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.”

With this curriculum-based achievement under his belt, King is thankful for the support that Klein ISD offered him throughout his educational career thus far and is looking forward to exploring pathways to future endeavors as he enters his senior year.

“The rigorous course load Klein offers has given me the mental capacity to take a 3-hour test,” he said. “I wasn’t expecting a score this high, it was my first time taking it and I was really just trying to understand the layout of the test but it feels great.”

The ACT consists of tests in English, math, reading, and science, each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four scores. ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the U.S.
