From the Klein Independent School District: The Klein ISD Education Foundation, community members and Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown climbed aboard the Celebration Express Dec. 4 to deliver big checks and even bigger smiles to grant recipients across the district. The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year to encourage, facilitate and recognize creative projects that lead to academic achievement for our Klein ISD students.

Northampton Elementary will implement a book vending machine thanks to the gracious sponsorship of Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, LLP totaling $7,000. One token at a time, the elementary campus will foster a love of reading and ensure access to relevant literature for EVERY student with a book vending machine. Students who demonstrate Northampton Core Values and Profile of a Learner traits while always striving to meet their personal and educational goals will receive a token to use in the book vending machine. This grant will provide learning opportunities and encourage positive behavior.

β€œOur wonderful SPED leader here saw a post on Facebook that she sent to me about a book vending machine,” Northampton Library Information Specialist Michelle Mason said. β€œEach member of the staff, from the custodian to the principal, will get a token each week to give to a student who is making positive choices. That student will get to pick a book from the vending machine that they get to keep forever.”
