Spring ISD, Klein ISD Earn TASBO Award Of Merit

The Spring-area school districts were two of 53 educational organizations honored with the award for professional spending standards.

SPRING, TX β€” A pair of school districts from the Spring area were honored last week for their adherence to best practices in the acquisitions of goods and services.

Spring ISD and Klein ISD were given the Award of Merit by the Texas Association of School Business Officials for exhibiting responsible and effective use of public funds.

TASBO honored 19 organizations in the Houston area, including 18 school districts. The award is given for following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. In 2022, 53 organizations earned the award, including school districts, open-enrollment charter schools and education services centers. The award has been given out annually since 2009.

Each year, TASBO officials review the award criteria to ensure it aligns with current best practices and reviews both new and recertification applications from organizations across the state.

"As Texas school districts face ever-increasing pressure to use funds efficiently, we're honored to recognize the work our honorees do to streamline operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars," TASBO Executive Director Tracy Ginsburg said.
