Spring ISD : Spring ISD Schools Celebrate National Parental Involvement Day On Nov. 18

On National Parental Involvement Day, Nov. 18, Spring ISD campuses will once again be recognizing the important role that parent volunteers play in the academic success of students at every grade level.

“We know that strong partnerships between schools and the families they serve can be an incredibly powerful factor in driving student success,” said Spring ISD Chief of Innovation and Equity Dr. Lupita Hinojosa. “When parents and guardians get involved in their children’s schools, it can have the impact of supercharging students’ learning and development, and National Parental Involvement Day is just a great opportunity for us as a district to show our appreciation for all that they do.”

With November as National Parental Involvement Month and Nov. 18 as this year’s National Parental Involvement Day, many campuses around the district will be hosting special events or otherwise finding ways to reach out and send district parents and guardians a message of thanks.

Executive Director of Family & Community Engagement Tranita Carroll explained that the main purpose of National Parental Involvement Month is just to celebrate parental involvement.

“November is the month that we really try to show our families, our parents, our caregivers, how much we appreciate all that they do on behalf of their children’s education,” Carroll said, ”just the fact that they are actively engaged in the schools and supporting their kids academically, socially and emotionally. We just want to recognize and honor them.”

For those considering getting involved, the district offers numerous parental involvement opportunities, including district and campus committees, parent and teacher organizations, booster clubs and mentoring programs like The Vine.

In addition, the Volunteers in Public Schools program helps match parents and other members of the community with volunteer opportunities, both large and small.

“Every day, all over the district, our parent volunteers help meet needs in our schools,” Carroll said. “Whether that means volunteering right in their child’s classroom or supporting schools in any number of other ways, at the end of the day that connection between our schools and our families makes Spring ISD stronger.”
