That customer, who was asking to purchase gas, happened to be Brooks, who was reported missing by family members Friday morning.

She called the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office to let them know he was at her establishment.

The Police Chief arrived shortly afterward.

The Chief said Brooks seemed to be in good health and said he would stay with Brooks until family members arrive.

Rice is located on Interstate 45 in Navarro County and is situated between Corsicana and Ennis south of Dallas.

“This is a testament of how a Silver Alert system works and works well,” said Sheriff Troy Nehls. “The message went statewide immediately and results were perfect. We are happy to know that Mr. Brooks is in good shape and we thank the store clerk and the Rice Police Department Chief for their efforts as well.”
