All eight Houston Methodist hospitals earned high marks, reinforcing that local residents have access to a nationally recognized network focused on safe, effective, patient-centered care.
   

2. Vel Lewis Brings Six Decades of Groove to 'Smoovee' (blogspot.com) — Vel Lewis is bringing his Hammond-organ-driven groove jazz show to Sugar Land on November 8, 2026, giving locals a chance to hear his new single "Smoovee" live. The veteran musician's decades-long career spans gospel, soul, TV work, and international collaborations, all feeding into this latest smooth, funk-infused project now climbing jazz charts worldwide.
   

3. ISP Roundup: Wire 3 supersizes Port St. Lucie build plans (bbcmag.com) — Sugar Land residents are part of a major broadband milestone, as Kinetic now passes 40,000 homes with fiber in the Fort Bend County area and plans to keep expanding. Company leaders call Sugar Land and greater Fort Bend a key market and an important link in Houston's growing technology corridor, promising more locations and long-term investment.
   

4. BETA and Metro Aviation Test Electric Aircraft for Texas Emergency Services (evtolinsights.com) — Emergency aviation planners are testing electric aircraft on a new route linking Galveston, Sugar Land and Brenham, which could eventually speed disaster-response equipment across Texas. The Brenham demonstration showed how the planes might complement existing helicopters, while a Galveston charging station is already in place as part of TxDOT's Project Nexus.
