Fort Bend County Deputies Arrest 2 Hauling $2M In Meth

Maria D. Carbajal-Ponce, of Chicago, and Carlos Gallegos, of Dallas are charged with Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

RICHMOND, TX — The Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force discovered a large amount of methamphetamine, and arrested two people on U.S. 59 in the Richmond area Tuesday, Oct. 24.

While working highway interdiction, a unit on the interdiction team conducted a traffic stop of a Chevy Malibu for a traffic violation on U.S. 59 North at Williams Way Blvd. in the Richmond area.

During the roadside investigation, the interdiction detective and his K-9 partner, “Jakie,” located 56 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in a box located in the trunk of the vehicle.

The suspects, Maria D. Carbajal-Ponce, 47, of Chicago, and Carlos Gallegos, 33, of Dallas, were arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on charges of Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a First Degree felony.

The methamphetamine weighed approximately 56 pounds with a potential street impact value of more than $2 million.

Their bond has not been set.
