Houston Area Surgeon Murdered During SWAT Standoff
Transplant Surgeon Dr. Sherilyn Gordon-Burroughs was killed by her husband, who then took his own life after standoff with police.

RICHMOND, TX -- A gifted Houston area surgeon was one of two people killed during an apparent murder-suicide on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Sherilyn Gordon-Burroughs, 48, and her husband, Daniel Burroughs, 60, were found shot to death after a stand-off with SWAT officers.
The standoff began at 10 a.m. in the 1400 block of River Cliff Court in Richmond when family members called and asked for deputies for a welfare check on Sherilyn Gordon-Burroughs.

Officials said family members became concerned after Daniel Burroughs called them early Sunday morning and made comments indicating that Dr. Gordon-Burroughs had been injured or killed.

Sheriff’s deputies were finally able to speak with Daniel Burroughs early Sunday afternoon, and asked if they could come in and check on his wife.
According to deputies, they heard a single shotgun blast as they came into the home.
Moments later, deputies found Daniel Burroughs dead from a shotgun blast to the head.
His wife was found shot to death on the bathroom floor.
Investigators said they believe she was probably killed the night before, or early Sunday morning.
The couple had a four-year old daughter who was staying with family members at the time of the incident, authorities said.
