Houston Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

Officer fired once at man who pulled out gun after a fender bender.

SUGAR LAND, TX -- A Houston Police Officer is under investigation after he fired his weapon at a motorist after he was involved in a car accident on Sunday.

The incident happened at 2:25 p.m. Sunday in the 15000 block of Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land.

The officer, who was not on duty at the time, told investigators that he was driving his private automobile and was attempting to turn left at an intersection when a man driving a Honda Civic.

The officer said that the man driving the Honda Civic got out of his car and pulled out a gun.

The officer said that he feared for his life, pulled out his weapon and fired at the man’s car, who fled the area.

The man was described as white or Hispanic, driving a two-toned turquoise Honda Civic.

The officer said he was not sure if the driver had been shot during the incident.

Houston Police is investigating to determine of the shooting was justified.
