Hurricane Harvey: Tornadoes Hit Homes In Fort Bend County
One resident reported that a piece of a 2x4 pierced his ceiling and sounded like a gunshot.

MISSOURI CITY, TX — At least one tornado touchdown in Sienna Plantation early Saturday as Hurricane Harvey landed on the South Texas Coast, the National Weather Service said. As many as 50 homes were damaged. The tornado also uprooted trees and caused damage to Ridge Point High School.
Roofs blew off, windows were broken by flying debris and other widespread damage occurred from tornadoes and high wind.
Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management released the following statement:

“The Red Cross has been contacted, is in route, and will be evaluating the need for a shelter for the residents of the damaged homes. Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Services were called out but there were no injuries at the site. Office of Emergency Management Staff and all of the agency partners continue to monitor the road closures due to high water. County Road and Bridge crews are making the rounds removing damaged tree limbs for public roadways. Stay tuned to the www:fbcoem.org for the latest in information on the effects of Harvey.”
KIAH reported that at least one family had to run for cover when they heard what sounded like a train. Troy and Karen Pearson grabbed their five children, ran for cover and hid inside their home. It was over in just a few seconds.
In Richmond, residents in the Lost Creek subdivision said a tornado ripped through their neghborhood ripping down a row of fencing, and damaging roofs, KTRK reported.

Meanwhile, rain remains an issue in the Houston area, particularly along rivers and creeks. Fort Bend County Emergency Management authorities are monitoring the Brazos River, which has a history of flooding during major rain events, and have issued evacuationorders for residents living near the river as well as those near the San Bernard River.
Mayde Creek near Katy is nearing flood stage, with minor flooding already n some areas of Addicks Reservoir.
