He reached a breaking point, however when he said he was confronted in a boys bathroom and had his head shoved in a urinal, cutting his lip.
Barrett then looked at the board of trustees and Hindt and said: "Lance, you were the one that shoved my head in the urinal."
Barrett went on to say that he went home that day intending to kill himself, and took out his father's handgun and put the barrel in his mouth.
The bullying eventually stopped when Barrett said his parents changed his last name on school records, but the wounds have never healed..
After his remarks, Hindt reportedly laughed off the accusation, angering Barrett who walked out of the boardroom, the Houston Chronicle reported..
Since the meeting, Hindt has denied accusations that he engaged in any sort of bullying.
"It was difficult for me to listen to a gentleman Monday night recount a bullying incident he said occurred more than 35 years ago… when an individual impugns my character and reputation as the instigator of those actions, I am disappointed because it simply is not true," Hindt said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Barrett said he was inspired to come forward and share his experiences from A Better Legacy, a support group for families of stuggling Katy ISD students.
