Here are the top stories today in Sugar Land:
- A lawsuit alleging racism and elitism in how its school board is elected has brought tensions to the surface in Spring Branch ISD. The district, which elects all of its school board members at-large, has never had a minority board member. (KTRK-TV)
- Missouri City joined a growing list of Texas cities to make Juneteenth a city holiday. The City Council voted for the measure, which will take effect in 2022. (Fortbendstar.com)
- The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office assisted in determining the identity of a body found in 2007. DNA sets from the cold case in Fort Bend County matched those from a cold case in Denver, which belonged to a 40-year-old man from Denver. (Fortbendstar.com)
- A 50-year-old man has been charged with murder in the slaying of his 81-year-old mother last weekend in Rosenberg. (KHOU.com)
- Pentatonix is coming soon to Sugar Land. The a cappella group will perform its latest Christmas tour at the Smart Financial Centre on Dec. 21, and tickets go on sale Friday. (KHOU.com)
