Physical Fight Leads to Shooting

Witnesses said after the two men fought, one of them came back with a gun

ROSENBERG, TX -- A 35-year old man is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he reportedly shot another man during an argument.

Police were called to the 100 block of Eighth Street at about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, the found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

Witnesses said the victim and another man, identified as Francisco Omar Amaya-Medina, were arguing and began fighting.

After the fight, Amaya-Medina left, but allegedly returned with a gun a short time later and shot once at the victim, hitting him in the left leg, according to police.

After a short search with a K-9 unit, Amaya-Medina was arrested and charged with the second degree felony.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
