Reward Increased To $15K In 2017 Homicide

Investigators are searching for answers in the 2017 murder of 21-year old Lorraine Diaz.

RICHMOND, TX — Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers and the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office have increased the award in a 2017 homicide case to $15,000.

Investigators are hoping that the reward will encourage witnesses to come forward and help authorities find out who killed Lorraine Diaz.

“This is an important case, illustrated by the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers organization’s decision to increase the reward money to $15,000,” said Sheriff Troy Nehls. “We need people to step up in order to solve this case and Crime Stoppers is willing to pay for positive leads.”

Deputies were called to a report of a vehicle fire at about 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 11, 2017 in a field on M 762, several miles southeast of Thompsons Road.

Once the fire was extinguished, authories found a body near the car, which was later determined to be a silver 2016 Nissan Altima.

Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives positively identified the body as Lorraine Diaz, 21, of Houston.

After the body was recovered, an autopsy was conducted at the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office and it was determined that Diaz was murdered.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify the person(s) responsible for the death of Lorraine Diaz.
