Rosenberg Police Arrest Two People For Narcotics, Animal Cruelty Charges

Police arrested Nathan Lara and Stephanie Harger on various criminal charges Sunday.

ROSENBERG, TX — Police who were making a property check of the Regency Inn Hotel in Rosenberg on Sunday, arrested a man and a woman on narcotics charges and animal cruelty charges.

The incident was reported at the Regency Inn, in the 28000 block of Interstate 69. (Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)

According to a KPRC report, police who were checking the property and came in contact with Nathan Lara, 23, who had a female pit bulldog with him.

Officers said the dog had visible wounds and appeared to be in distress.

According to a statement from the Rosenberg Police Department, Lara said the dog had access to narcotics that were in his hotel room.

Officers also learned that Lara had three active warrants for speeding, failure to appear and no license plate light, all Class C Misdemeanor charges

Lara was charged with animal cruelty and taken to the Rosenberg City Jail, and later transferred to the Fort Bend County Jail.

The dog was taken to Rosenberg Animal Control for care, officers said.

Police said they searched Lara’s hotel room and found marijuana, synthetic marijuana and cocaine.

Stephanie Harger, 23, who wa in Lara’s hotel room at the time, allegedly told officers that the drugs were hers, police said.

She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance 1-4 grams, possession of a controlled substance less than 2 ounces and possession of marijuana.

Harger is in the Fort Bend County Jail with a bond of $11,000.
