Speeding Car Causes 3-Car Pile Up, Killing 1.

The driver of a speeding car that caused a three vehicle pile up early Monday was not drunk: Investigators

PEARLAND, TX — A car investigators said was traveling at least 100 miles per hour, slammed into two other vehicles waiting at a traffic signal, killing one person.

The crash happened at about 1 a.m. Monday, at the intersection of FM 2234 and FM 521.

Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the driver of the speeding car slammed into the back of one car that was waiting behind a minivan at the traffic signal.

The impact forced the car that was hit from behind to become lodged into the back of the minivan, and caused both to flip into an adjoining ditch, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The driver of the speeding car was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Investigators said the driver was tested at the scene and did not have alcohol in his system, KPRC reported.

No one inside the minivan was injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
