It will serve as a communications center, allowing key decision-makers to coordinate activities and tactical resources in and around critical incidents such as natural and manmade disasters.
The vehicle will also support the operation of large-scale events such Tree Lighting, New Year's Eve and activities at the City's new Festival Site near the Brazos River.
"This asset directly supports our citywide goal to remain one of the safest cities in the country," said Assistant Fire-EMS Chief Mario Partida. "It is a key resource in maintaining situational awareness and ensuring the swift, efficient deployment of resources to protect our citizens."
Sugar Land's current mobile command vehicle has been in service since 2000. Aging technology and mechanical issues prompted the need to identify a replacement, one that addresses the future needs of the community.
