Train Hits Car At Sugar Land Rail Road Crossing

Driver of the car was initially treated, and then taken by Life Flight To An Area Hospital, where he is being treated

SUGAR LAND, TX -- A man was taken by Life Flight to an area hospital after his car was hit by a train.

The accident happened shortly before 6 a.m. Monday at U.S. 90A and Main Street.

Investigators said the driver of the car stopped on the tracks as the train was approaching and was hit, ushing the car down the tracks to Ulrich Street, before throwing his car from the tracks.

The driver, who is from nearby Fresno, was treated at the scene, and then taken by Life Flight to an area hospital in critical conditon.

Officials closed the railroad crossing at Ulrich Road and U.S. 90A while the incident is investigated.

Investigators didn’t say if the driver was trying to beat the train, or stalled on the tracks.

The condition of the driver is unknown
